　　　　　　There　was a tendency toward the interfusion for
　　　　Chinese Buddhism after the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
　　　　Not only mutual infiltration occured among Buddhist
　　　　schools then, but the thoughts of Buddhism and
　　　　Taoism became diffused and mixed as well. It was in
　　　　the Sung and Yuan Dynasties that Confucianism,
　　　　Buddhism, and Taoism first came into full
　　　　interfusion: the orging of Neo-Confucianism of the
　　　　Sung and Ming Dynasties was regarded as the fruit of
　　　　such an interflow. The author of this article has no
　　　　intention of discussing in an overall way how they
　　　　were intermingled with one another, but is going to
　　　　make an inquiry into something connected with the
　　　　interfusion of Buddhism and Confucianism, through
　　　　the writings by Chih Yuan, Chi Sung, and Liu Mi.
